He depicts the world as a messy and chaotic environment. With a drawing style that is both sophisticated and, at the same time, deliberately crude, Dubuffet created an art distinct from that of other artists of the postwar period. “Les Murs” illustrates Dubuffet’s interest in l’art brut and reveals the inspiration he drew from the art of the mentally ill.” (Robert Flynn Johnson, in: LC) Slipcase with faded margins and foxing; spine of the chemise faded. - Interior in perfect condition.
