Andy Warhol - Interview. A Monthly Film Journal. Vol. 1, No. 1-3. New York 1969. With numerous photographs. Three issues, originally folded. Auction start time: approx. 1:49 p.m. (Schedule subject to change) The first three issues of the legendary magazine, conceived in 1968–69 by Andy Warhol and his first assistant, Gerard Malanga. - The magazine, which focused on film premieres and celebrities, was published in its early years in monochrome black print on newsprint, with only the title frames in color. Later, the format and paper changed, and the design shifted to a more opulent color scheme. - Ralf Rainer Rygulla received these three issues as a gift from co-editor Malanga during a visit to the Frankfurt Book Fair, presumably as a token of gratitude for the German edition of Malanga’s autobiography (März Verlag, 1970), which Rygulla had overseen. - See also: Issue 10. Age-related browning of the edges, but overall in very good condition, as they have never been read.
