He viewed art as a narrative of workers’ struggles and as a fearless expression of solidarity with the marginalized. He loved to say that he painted “in the dialect of central Italy,” that is, in the language of those who had never been tainted by technocratic society. He learned the craft of painting primarily from his father and later from Cagli, Mirko, Matta, and Léger. He had studied the great Mexican muralists: Siqueiros, Orozco, and Rivera. He wanted the surrealism of his images to reflect the folk proverbs of his people. His works are housed in numerous museums, galleries, and buildings in various countries around the world. In Guatemala City, he created two “murals,” measuring 130 and 80 square meters, on the facade of the School of Communication Sciences at San Carlos University. He also held countless “solo” exhibitions and participated in “group” shows. In 2003, he displayed over 40 large-scale paintings in the halls of the Palazzo del Duca in Senigallia” (from the tribute to the painter by the Municipal Museum of Modern Art in Senigallia).
