SANTIAGO CÁRDENAS Colombia, 1937 Sunny Day, 1967 Colored pencils on paper 30 x 25 cm Signed and dated “Santiago Cárdenas A. 67” in the lower right corner. This illustration was published in the magazine *Lámpara* in 1966 and belongs to Santiago Cárdenas’s early period, marked by the influence of American Pop Art. The simplification of forms, the fluidity of the drawing, and the intensity of the color reveal a sensibility closely aligned with the advertising imagery of the time. His paintings from those years depicted bathers, women in cars, and scenes from everyday life. In 1966, he won first prize at the Third Croydon National Salon for *Mi Nefertiti*, a work created the previous year. Literature: Santiago Cárdenas. Día de sol, 1966. Illustration published in Lámpara magazine Benjamín Villegas Collection, Bogotá.
