Marking(s): None Cataloguer's Note: Common throughout the regions of the former Ottoman Empire—including Turkey, Albania, Greece, and Serbia—these short, sleeveless waistcoats were worn for festive or ceremonial occasions. The piece is highly characteristic of late 19th-century regional folk costumes, featuring a tailored silhouette adorned with dense, couch-stitched metallic cord embroidery (sirma) arranged in sweeping curvilinear patterns.
