1985 JAGUAR TYPE D by RAM Chassis No. P1B9027BW • Inspired by the Jaguar Type D • 3.4-liter Jaguar XK engine • Photographic restoration portfolio • French RAM vehicle registration certificate Succeeding the Type C, the Jaguar Type D made history at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with three consecutive victories from 1955 to 1957. Designed by Malcolm Sayer, it stands out for its aerodynamics and rear wing—a silhouette recreated here by RAM. Built in April 1985, this example is powered by a 3.4-liter Jaguar XK engine, fed by three Weber 45 DCOE carburetors. Acquired as a wreck by its owner in 2015, it underwent a restoration starting from the chassis, with a photographic portfolio documenting each stage of the process. The work included, notably, the installation of an aluminum radiator with a fan, lowered suspension, a fire suppression system, and the replacement of the brake pads. Work continued with the installation of an electronic ignition system and carburetor tuning in 2019, the repair of the steering rack in 2020, followed by the replacement of the master cylinder and clutch slave cylinder in July 2023. Carried out by the owner and his mechanic, these repairs are not accompanied by invoices. With its Le Mans-inspired lines and Jaguar mechanics, this recreation by RAM will appeal to enthusiasts looking to relive the atmosphere of 1950s sports cars for a day out. 1985 — JAGUAR D-TYPE by RAM Chassis No. P1B9027BW • Jaguar D-Type recreation • 3.4-liter Jaguar XK engine • Photographic restoration record • French registration document identifying the car as a RAM The successor to the C-Type, the Jaguar D-Type left its mark on the history of the 24 Hours of Le Mans with three consecutive victories from 1955 to 1957.
