Sassicaia, 2001. Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC. Tuscany, Italy. Red wine. 1 bottle, 75 cl. Vinous 97/100, Decanter 99/100. Condition: BN (Base Neck). Label is legible, with slight stains, scuffs, and a horizontal crease. Blue capsule is intact with slight scuffs. From a private collection, stored under optimal temperature and humidity conditions. Sassicaia 2001 reflects Tenuta San Guido’s tradition of crafting red wines from Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc in Bolgheri. According to the winery, the vintage benefited from favorable weather, with little summer rainfall and early, full ripening. Its production included twenty-two months of aging in French oak barrels—one-third of which were new—before bottling in November 2003.
