Prior Terrae, Gran Vi de Guarda, 1998. D.O.Ca. Priorat, Tarragona, Spain. Red wine. 1 bottle, 75 cl. Comes in an open wooden box for inspection. Condition: BN (Base Neck) grade. It retains its black capsule with the Prior Terrae name and emblem in relief; it is intact but shows slight scuffs and superficial signs of storage. The main label shows slight signs of aging, while the back label and the Regulatory Council’s seal exhibit stains, wear, and partial surface loss. It comes from a private collection, stored under optimal temperature and humidity conditions. Prior Terrae Gran Vi de Guarda 1998 is an interesting example of the limited-production wines made in the Priorat during its period of international consolidation. Hailing from Bellmunt del Priorat—a region with a long winemaking tradition characterized by its unique slate soils and challenging terrain—this wine reflects the region’s commitment to high-quality winemaking and wines designed for aging. Its limited production—just 6,200 bottles—and its presentation in a wooden box enhance the appeal of this historic vintage, which is of particular interest to collectors of Spanish wines and enthusiasts of the early stages of the Priorat’s contemporary renaissance.
