Vall Llach, 2001. D.O.Q. Priorat, Porrera, Tarragona, Catalonia, Spain Red wine. 3 bottles of 75 cl. Condition: All three bottles are filled to the neck (IN, Into Neck). Original dark gray capsules, intact, with the winery’s monogram embossed on the top, with no apparent damage to the seal. Original main labels, complete, well-adhered, and perfectly legible, with subtle signs of age. Blue lower labels from the D.O.Q. Priorat are preserved in good condition. From a private collection, stored under optimal temperature and humidity conditions. Vall Llach is one of the leading names in the Priorat wine renaissance. Founded in Porrera by singer Lluís Llach and notary Enric Costa, the project was born out of a desire to restore traditional vineyards and express the character of a region marked by its steep slopes and llicorella soils—the slate characteristic of the area. Its flagship wine, Vall Llach, comes from a selection of plots and combines the personality of native grape varieties—especially Cariñena and Garnacha—with other varieties that add complexity and structure. The 2001 vintage belongs to a particularly highly regarded period in the consolidation of the Priorat’s great wines. As it ages in the bottle, it can develop aromas of candied black fruit, ripe plum, licorice, sweet spices, cocoa, Mediterranean herbs, and mineral notes, all supported by a concentrated and persistent structure. The label indicates a production of 14,899 bottles, bottled in Porrera in May 2003—a figure that underscores the select nature of this wine.
