L'Ermita is one of Spain’s great cult wines and Álvaro Palacios’s most iconic creation in the Priorat. It comes from an extraordinary vineyard located on the slopes of Gratallops, where old vines sink their roots into the characteristic licorella soils, composed of slate that imparts a distinct mineral character. The 2001 vintage was made primarily from Garnacha, accompanied by small proportions of Cariñena and Cabernet Sauvignon, from very low yields and aged in French oak. The result is a wine of great concentration and depth, with aromas of black fruits, raspberry, licorice, spices, roasted coffee, and mineral notes. Its powerful structure, enveloping texture, and long finish reflect the unique character of this vineyard.
