L'Ermita, 2002. D.O.Q. Priorat, Catalonia, Spain. Red wine. 1 bottle, 75 cl. Condition: Fill level IN (Into Neck), as seen in the photo. Original black capsule intact, with a red embossed seal on top; slight scuffs. Original main label is complete and legible, though it shows cosmetic wear, with dark moisture stains. Lower label by Álvaro Palacios is present and legible, with superficial moisture stains. Priorat D.O.Q. guarantee seal on the back is complete and legible. It comes from a private collection, stored under optimal temperature and humidity conditions. L'Ermita is one of the most exclusive and renowned wines on the Spanish wine scene, created by Álvaro Palacios in a small, extraordinarily unique vineyard located in Gratallops, in the heart of the Priorat. Its old vines grow on steep slopes of licorella—the region’s characteristic slate—in an environment of low yields that fosters remarkable concentration and expression of the terroir. Made primarily from Garnacha, L’Ermita combines intensity, finesse, and aromatic depth through rigorous grape selection and carefully integrated aging. The 2002 vintage was marked by challenging weather conditions, which made the selection process in the vineyard particularly important. The wine offers a profile of ripe red and black fruits, Mediterranean herbs, spices, balsamic nuances, and mineral notes, with a structured and persistent palate.
