Sierra Cantabria Private Collection is one of the flagship wines of the Eguren family, whose winemaking tradition in Rioja dates back several generations. It is made from selected Tempranillo vineyards located in San Vicente de la Sonsierra, on clay-limestone soils sheltered by the Sierra Cantabria. Its production combines traditional winemaking with a portion of carbonic maceration, aiming to preserve the fruit’s aromatic intensity and add complexity and structure. Aging in French and American oak barrels contributes to its elegant and spicy character. The 2001 vintage, rated as “excellent” by the Rioja Regulatory Council, stands out for its concentration, balance, and remarkable aging potential. A wine with a distinct personality, featuring hints of ripe black fruits, licorice, spices, and balsamic notes, representing the Eguren family’s most ambitious interpretation of the Rioja tradition.
