Founded in 1989 in Samaniego, Bodegas Remírez de Ganuza has established itself as a leader in high-quality winemaking in the Rioja Alavesa region. Its 2001 Reserva is made from 90% Tempranillo and 10% Graciano, sourced from vineyards approximately 60 years old located in Elciego, Leza, Samaniego, and Laguardia. The winery is known for its meticulous grape selection, using exclusively the outer clusters for its top-tier wines. According to the back label, this vintage was aged for 21 months in French and American oak barrels. The 2001 vintage, rated as excellent in Rioja, is characterized by its balance, concentration, and aging potential. Its Magnum format promotes slow aging and, together with the original wooden cases, lends a special appeal to this collector’s set.
