Château Gruaud Larose is one of the historic estates of Saint-Julien, founded in the 18th century and recognized as a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé in the 1855 Bordeaux classification. Its vineyards, situated on the characteristic gravel terraces of the Médoc, produce wines of remarkable structure, elegance, and aging potential. Cabernet Sauvignon forms the basis of its blends, accompanied primarily by Merlot and small proportions of other Bordeaux varieties. The 2002 vintage offers a classic Left Bank profile, with aromas of black fruit, cedar, tobacco, spices, and earthy nuances. Its balance of freshness, tannins, and complexity makes it an interesting expression of Saint-Julien’s traditional character.
