Château Troplong Mondot, 1998. A.O.C. Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, Libournais, Bordeaux, France. Red wine. 2 bottles of 75 cl. The Wine Independent (Lisa Perrotti-Brown): 96/100. Condition: Both bottles are filled to the neck (IN). Original maroon capsules, intact, with the inscriptions “Château Troplong Mondot” and “Grand Cru Classé” embossed on the top. Original main labels, intact, well-adhered, and perfectly legible, with slight signs of aging on the paper. One of the labels has a small notch on the top edge. Good overall condition. From a private collection cellar, stored under optimal temperature and humidity conditions. Château Troplong Mondot is situated on one of the highest elevations in Saint-Émilion, on clay-limestone soils that lend structure and depth to its wines. Its vineyard, dominated by Merlot and complemented by Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, produces red wines of remarkable concentration and aging potential. The 1998 vintage, particularly outstanding on the Right Bank of Bordeaux, combines ripeness, rich fruit, and firm tannins. As it ages, it may develop notes of black plum, ripe cherry, truffle, tobacco, spices, and forest floor, with a full-bodied texture and a persistent finish.
