Robert Parker (The Wine Advocate): 96/100. Condition: IN (Into Neck) levels in both bottles. Original maroon capsules intact, in very good condition. Front labels are complete and legible, with visible creases and wrinkles, especially on the sides and bottom. They have slight stains but no significant damage to the paper. Back labels are intact and in good condition. From a private collection, stored under optimal temperature and humidity conditions. Château Mouton Rothschild is one of the great historic estates of Pauillac, renowned both for the quality of its wines and for its unique tradition of labels illustrated by internationally renowned artists. The 1998 vintage, made primarily from Cabernet Sauvignon, blended with Merlot and Cabernet Franc, is distinguished by its structure, concentration, and complexity, with notes of black fruit, cassis, graphite, tobacco, and spices. Its label features “El Brindis,” a work by Mexican painter Rufino Tamayo, which is part of the winery’s art collection. The significance of this vintage, combined with the appeal of its design and the estate’s prestige, makes this bottle a particularly interesting find for collectors of fine Bordeaux wines.
