BAO-TAO Rug China. Early 20th century. Wool velour on a cotton backing. On the banks of a tree-lined river, on a sandbar, an elegant pair of deer come to quench their thirst, under the curious gaze of a crane perched on a rocky outcrop, in the shade of a maple tree. Exquisite design and Chinese symbolism (crane—eternal life; deer—longevity). H_127 cm L_68 cm Expert: Frank KASSAPIAN
