NAIN Rug (Iran), Mid-20th century. Wool pile on a cotton backing. An oval cherry-red field covered with ivory and sky-blue floral scrolls features a fantastic, radiant star-shaped medallion adorned with ivory, cream, sky-blue, and navy foliage, along with its multilobed pendants. Four ivory spandrels with floral motifs, framed by trilobed arches, enclose the design. A wide cream border featuring a succession of corollas set against an interlaced pattern of flowering stems, flanked by two cream counter-borders with garlands of small flowers.
