GORADIS Rug Caucasus-Armenia/Artsakh-Karabakh. Mid-18th century. Wool pile on a wool backing. An anthracite-gray field covered with a polychrome floral pattern features a succession of multicolored zoomorphic forms with plant motifs. This design, typical of Goradis carpets from southeastern Artsakh-Karabakh, is often likened to scorpions. The border consists of a wide ivory border featuring a series of plant-inspired botehs, flanked by two counter-borders with stylized florets. Highlighted with two-tone positive/negative crenellation. A beautiful piece that has acquired a patina of age. H_213 cm L_540 cm Expert: Frank KASSAPIAN
