TABRIZ Rug Iran. ca. 1940. Wool pile on a cotton backing. A midnight blue, oblong octagonal field, embellished with a pistachio-colored diamond-shaped medallion and framed by four spandrels in the same shade, features a so-called “Herati” design of small, multicolored stylized flowers and leaves.
