Original KIRSHÉIR carpet Central Asia Minor. Circa 1930–1940 Wool pile on a wool backing. In the center of a cherry-red field rests an old-gold, multi-lobed medallion featuring a cruciform, star-shaped, multicolored floral composition with botehs. Four turquoise spandrels are adorned with protruding, “flaming” old-gold botehs. This flamboyant rug features a design with a distinctly “Zoroastrian” feel. Two counter-borders of carnation garlands—one ivory, the other old gold—frame the main turquoise border, which is adorned with bouquets of multicolored, blooming flowers.
