BIDJAR Gallery Rug (Iran) Late 20th century. Wool and silk pile on a cotton backing. A raspberry-colored field features eight exuberant floral motifs, predominantly ivory in color. Curiously, they give the impression of cross-sections, making them resemble heraldic coats of arms. Their multicolored, multi-lobed outline is surmounted by interlacing foliage, framing a bluish flower. A flowering branch embellishes the base. Ivory border featuring a wavy plant garland, adorned with polychrome flowers. Contrasting turquoise borders with garlands of small flowers. Strikingly elegant.
