BIDJAR Rug Iran. Mid-20th century. Wool pile on a cotton backing. A brick-red field covered with a multicolored floral pattern forming small, subtle compositions serves as the backdrop for a superb, multi-lobed, rhombic medallion in shades of navy, chestnut, and ivory, richly adorned with plant motifs. Four spandrels of the same style frame the entire design. The frame consists of a navy blue border featuring a succession of polychrome floral bouquets, flanked by two cream-colored counter-borders with garlands of pink, turquoise, charcoal, and chestnut foliage. The edging is accented with small tricolor serrations. Beautiful uniformity. H_338 cm L_231 cm Expert: Frank KASSAPIAN
