Antique and original MAHAL rug Persian. Late 19th century High-quality wool pile on a cotton backing. This wide border consists of a main brick-red border featuring a succession of sky-blue and ivory flower petals, interspersed with leaves in the same tones, and two sky-blue counter-borders with garlands of undulating florets. It frames an oblong ivory field with petal motifs, featuring a central midnight blue, multi-lobed medallion inlaid with an interlacing pattern of pastel-colored branches and their chestnut-colored counterparts. Four navy-blue spandrels adorned with plant motifs embellish the design. A beautiful, refined visual balance. H_135 cm W_190 cm Slight natural oxidation, evidence of age.
