Very fine, antique SENNEH carpet Northeastern Persia. Late 19th century. Wool pile on a cotton backing. Density: approx. 8,500–9,000 knots per dm². A midnight blue hexagonal field featuring an intricate, multicolored, stylized floral lattice pattern known as “Herati” serves as the backdrop for an ivory hexagonal medallion with orange foliage. Four wide brick-red spandrels with the same motifs frame the composition. A quadruple ivory and antique gold border featuring garlands of small flowers and, more surprisingly, cartouches of pseudo-hieroglyphs and scarabs. Colorful and graphically unconventional. H_190 cm L_132 cm Beautiful polychromy. Remarkably fresh colors. Excellent condition. Remarkable finesse. Expert: Frank KASSAPIAN
