KACHAN Rug (Iran), circa 1975 Wool pile on a cotton backing. A chestnut-colored field features an ivory counterfield in a multilobed mandorla shape, centered on a crenellated diamond-shaped medallion in chestnut, sky blue, and ivory, along with its counterparts. Four small two-tone spandrels enhance the design. The entire design is covered with multicolored floral scrolls. A wide chestnut-colored border features interlacing stems and blooming corollas, flanked by two ivory-colored counter-borders with garlands of small flowers. Serrated highlights. Beautiful design.
