KACHAN Rug Iran. Mid-20th century. Wool pile on a cotton backing. An ivory field covered with multicolored floral stems supports a central polychrome floral rosette and its pendants in the shape of symbolic oil lamps. The four spandrels, of the same style, are bordered by garlands of undulating antique gold leaves. A wide ivory border featuring a succession of multicolored flower corollas set upon floral scrolls, flanked by two leafy cream-colored counter-borders with garlands of polychrome florets.
