A highly original, large, and antique Tehran rug Persia. Circa 1930 High-quality, silky wool pile on a cotton backing. Prussian blue field featuring a mihrab richly decorated with crenellated branches in ivory twists, adorned with a finely drawn vase ending in a lyre shape, surrounded by a profusion of flowers, stylized birds, and two symmetrical, polychrome vases. Double spandrel featuring floral arabesques inlaid with birds taking flight. Five borders, the main turquoise one featuring a highly original design of star-shaped flowers.
