ISPAHAN carpet on silk warp, signed "SEIRAFIAN" Iran. Shah era, mid-20th century. Wool pile on a silk foundation. An oblong ivory field featuring arabesques, covered with floral scrolls of multicolored corollas in a spiraling pattern, supports a magnificent star-shaped floral rosette in ivory, ruby, navy, sky blue, and antique gold, along with its arrow-shaped pendants. Four sublime, curving spandrels adorned with foliage in sky blue, ruby, and ivory frame the composition. Four navy and ivory counter-borders featuring garlands of leafy blossoms encircle the main ruby-colored border, which features a succession of blooming corollas set upon polychromatic plant interlacing. Signed in Persian within the kilim, inside an ivory cartouche framed by Iranian colors. A sublime color palette and design of the highest caliber. H_242 cm L_135 cm. Expert: Frank KASSAPIAN
