Louis Vuitton by Nicolas Ghesquière. A ‘Zoey’ fox fur gilet, FW 2017, attributed to look 11, of black with contrasting golden yellow fur bands, featuring a sleeveless silhouette, raised collar, and sculpted, panelled construction, lined in black silk. 100% fox fur, lining 100% silk, with lambskin and polyester components, labelled French size 36 (UK 8). Grade A-B Notes: Fur formed a significant element of Nicolas Ghesquière’s Autumn/Winter 2017 collection for Louis Vuitton, presented in the Louvre’s Cour Marly on 7 March 2017. The collection explored its decorative and structural possibilities through voluminous coats, short-sleeved patchwork jackets and contrasting lengths and textures of pile. Natural-toned pelts appeared alongside peach-coloured fur, creating a varied palette that emphasised the material’s visual depth. The short-sleeved, multi-pelt outerwear was particularly characteristic of the collection’s approach: contrasting sections articulated the silhouette, treating fur as a compositional material. Paired with relaxed, cropped flared trousers, these pieces placed elaborate fur workmanship within a contemporary daywear wardrobe. The present lot belongs to this distinctive exploration of texture, volume and material contrast.
