A standing portrait of a Maharaja, Rajasthan, North India, first quarter 19th century, Identified in a handwritten inscription in black ink to verso as Sree Maharaja Bhumsingjee the son of Rana umseejee now reigning at Oodahpoor Hindoo era 1866 AD1810, opaque pigments on paper laid on card, facing right, haloed, bejewelled, wearing a white tunic and ornate red turban with sarpech and feather, his right hand resting on a tulwar's hilt, against a green field, within thin yellow borders ruled in black and white, narrow light blue margins double ruled in black with an inscription in white devanagari script, E. Cox in pencil after inscription to otherwise plain reverse, 27.8 x 19.2cm.
