A standing portrait of the emperor Akbar, India, manner of Govardhan, and his painting "Akbar with Lion and Calf" on the folio from the Shah Jahan album, opaque pigments on paper heightened with gold, haloed, dressed in white, his hands resting on his sword, two angels holding a crown above, spurious signature below, laid on card within polychrome and calligraphic borders, gold scrollwork against light blue wider borders ruled in blued, red and gold, wide margins with oversized gold flowers and swaying tendrils, 35.6 x 28.4cm.
