In the background, several dismounted Hussars can be seen beside their horses. The trumpeter in the foreground sounds the signal for departure, while the men in the background prepare to set off. They all belong to the same 3rd Hussar Regiment, a unit of the French army, identifiable by the numeral 3 on their saddlecloths.
