Art Deco-style tray and four glasses set. Palisander wood tray; engraved glass cups. In good overall condition, with superficial wear on the back of the tray. Measurements: tray, 48 × 30 cm; glasses, 14 × Ø 7 cm. Provenance: Estate of Ramon Martí Alsina and Ricard Martí Aguiló. Artistic and heritage collection originating in the legacy of Catalan painters Ramon Martí Alsina (1826–1894), a seminal figure of 19th-century Catalan Realism, and his son Ricard Martí Aguiló (1857–1935). Passed down and enriched across successive generations, the collection brings together works from the original holdings of both artists alongside acquisitions made by their descendants. Dedicated to preserving and recovering the family legacy, the descendants actively reacquired works by the painters as they entered the market, progressively expanding the collection to encompass paintings, sculptures, archaeological artifacts, and other items of artistic and historical significance. The combination of rosewood, metal, and glass reflects the Art Deco taste for contrast between materials and for understated, geometric ornamentation. The tray’s appeal lies in the natural richness of the wood, enhanced by discreet metal details that lend definition to its design. The four glasses feature engraved zoomorphic motifs, introducing a figurative element without disrupting the overall clean lines of the set. The transparency of the glass and the warmth of the rosewood establish a balance of materials characteristic of table and bar accessories associated with the decorative style of the period.
