RAIMON ROCA RICART (Vic, Barcelona, 1917 - ?). “Rural Landscape.” Oil on panel. Signed in the lower left corner. Measurements: 23 x 32 cm; 44 x 53 cm (frame). Provenance: Estate of Ramon Martí Alsina and Ricard Martí Aguiló. Artistic and heritage collection originating in the legacy of Catalan painters Ramon Martí Alsina (1826–1894), a seminal figure of 19th-century Catalan Realism, and his son Ricard Martí Aguiló (1857–1935). Passed down and enriched across successive generations, the collection brings together works from the original holdings of both artists alongside acquisitions made by their descendants. Dedicated to preserving and recovering the family legacy, the descendants actively reacquired works by the painters as they entered the market, progressively expanding the collection to encompass paintings, sculptures, archaeological artifacts, and other items of artistic and historical significance. A painter trained at the School of Arts and Crafts in Sabadell and the School of Fine Arts in Barcelona, Raimon Roca was a student of Vila Arrufat, from whom he learned to create murals and stained-glass windows. In 1941, he exhibited for the first time at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sabadell, and from then on he exhibited his work in Barcelona, Bilbao, and Madrid. From 1950 until the mid-1960s, Roca devoted himself primarily to mural painting, creating various religious murals in Begur, Hevia, Calella, Sabadell, and elsewhere, although he also produced works on paper and designed several stained-glass windows. In 1968, he resumed exhibiting in Bilbao, Barcelona, and other Catalan towns. He exhibited at La Pinacoteca in Barcelona in 1978 and at the Intel•lecte gallery in Sabadell in 1984. His paintings encompass landscapes, still lifes, flower paintings, figures, and compositions. His works are currently included in various private collections.
