EUSTAQUI SEGRELLES DEL PILAR (Albaida, Valencia, 1936–2025). “Seascape,” 1972 Oil on canvas. Signed, dated, and titled. Measurements: 33 x 46 cm; 49 x 62 cm (frame). Provenance: Estate of Ramon Martí Alsina and Ricard Martí Aguiló. Artistic and heritage collection originating in the legacy of Catalan painters Ramon Martí Alsina (1826–1894), a seminal figure of 19th-century Catalan Realism, and his son Ricard Martí Aguiló (1857–1935). Passed down and enriched across successive generations, the collection brings together works from the original holdings of both artists alongside acquisitions made by their descendants. Dedicated to preserving and recovering the family legacy, the descendants actively reacquired works by the painters as they entered the market, progressively expanding the collection to encompass paintings, sculptures, archaeological artifacts, and other items of artistic and historical significance. Segrelles trained in Valencia at the San Carlos School and the Vicente Barreira Academy, and began his career as an illustrator and draftsman for various publishing houses. In 1967, he was selected by the National Association of Fine Arts to exhibit in New York and Copenhagen, and in the 1970s he received two fellowships, one for Madrid and another for Laayoune. As early as the 1960s, he exhibited his work throughout Spain in numerous solo exhibitions, and beginning in the following decade, he also exhibited in other European countries, as well as in Australia, Japan, the U.S., Jordan, and elsewhere. A member of the Accademia Internazionale Greci-Marino in Italy, he has been awarded the First Prize for Outdoor Painting by the City of Valencia, the Medal for Artistic Merit from the Ministry of Information and Tourism, the First Karman Prize in Seville, the Barcelona Provincial Council Award, and the Villa de Pego International Award and Gold Medal. His work is currently on display at the Castillo de Larrés Drawing Museum in Huesca.
