Table lamp, ca. 1940–1950. Silver-plated metal and leaded glass. It has a patina consistent with its age. Measurements: 69 x 44 x 44 cm. Provenance: Estate of Ramon Martí Alsina and Ricard Martí Aguiló. Artistic and heritage collection originating in the legacy of Catalan painters Ramon Martí Alsina (1826–1894), a seminal figure of 19th-century Catalan Realism, and his son Ricard Martí Aguiló (1857–1935). Passed down and enriched across successive generations, the collection brings together works from the original holdings of both artists alongside acquisitions made by their descendants. Dedicated to preserving and recovering the family legacy, the descendants actively reacquired works by the painters as they entered the market, progressively expanding the collection to encompass paintings, sculptures, archaeological artifacts, and other items of artistic and historical significance. This table lamp combines a base with a distinctly ornamental character with a leaded glass shade, creating a design that draws on both historicist and modernist styles from the first half of the 20th century. The base consists of a wide circular base decorated in relief, a central section openworked with plant motifs, and a stylized shaft, all crafted from silver-plated metal. The polygonal shade is composed of glass panels in shades of blue, green, and amber, arranged in a geometric pattern enriched with floral motifs. The corolla-shaped top finial extends this botanical motif and adds verticality to the piece. The combination of wrought metal and leaded glass panels reflects the international spread of decorative styles derived from Art Nouveau and Tiffany-inspired lamps, reinterpreted here in a mid-20th-century piece.
