Art Deco table lamp, ca. 1930. Bronze, gilded copper, and molded glass. It has some isolated areas where the gilding has worn off. Measurements: 52 x 40 x 40 cm. Provenance: Estate of Ramon Martí Alsina and Ricard Martí Aguiló. Artistic and heritage collection originating in the legacy of Catalan painters Ramon Martí Alsina (1826–1894), a seminal figure of 19th-century Catalan Realism, and his son Ricard Martí Aguiló (1857–1935). Passed down and enriched across successive generations, the collection brings together works from the original holdings of both artists alongside acquisitions made by their descendants. Dedicated to preserving and recovering the family legacy, the descendants actively reacquired works by the painters as they entered the market, progressively expanding the collection to encompass paintings, sculptures, archaeological artifacts, and other items of artistic and historical significance. This table lamp is a striking example of Art Deco lighting from the 1930s, where the geometric structure is combined with the contrast between metal and glass. The wide circular shade is organized radially into triangular sections and incorporates eight panels of molded opalescent glass, arranged regularly around the central axis. The slender stem rises from a truncated conical base with a martelé finish, while the shade is embellished with a border of highly stylized geometric and botanical motifs. The combination of gilded copper with the milky luminosity of the glass creates a particularly refined decorative effect, characteristic of the Art Deco taste for shiny materials, symmetrical compositions, and geometric rhythms.
