SÉGOFFIN (Victor) (1867–1925). French sculptor. Winner of the Grand Prix de Rome in 1897. Student of Jules Cavelier and Louis-Ernest Barrias. Autograph letter signed “Ségoffin” to a lady [Madame Roll]. [Paris], May 25, 1911. 2 pages, in-8 format, on letterhead from 17 Rue de La Rochefoucauld. Letter regarding the resumption of posing sessions in the sculptor’s studio. Ségoffin is delighted to finally be able to meet with his correspondent again and resume his work: “Agreed for Tuesday afternoon; very happy to finally be able to resume our sessions.” He explains that he deliberately waited before contacting her: “Thank you so much for sending me the telegram to let me know. ” This letter attests to the courteous relationships the sculptor maintained with his models and patrons, as well as to the organization of the posing sessions necessary for the creation of his sculpted portraits. Beautiful autograph signature. Some old creases, overall in good condition.
