SÉGOFFIN (Victor) (1867–1925). French sculptor. Winner of the Grand Prix de Rome in 1897. Student of Jules Cavelier and Louis-Ernest Barrias. Autograph letter signed “Ségoffin” to a lady. [Paris], December 6, 1911. 2 pages, in-8 format, on letterhead from 17 Rue de La Rochefoucauld. Letter regarding the completion of a marble bust and the patron’s upcoming visit to the sculptor’s studio. “The marble bust is finished, or nearly so, and I would be very pleased if you would come to see it.” Ségoffin specifies that he will be in his studio in the coming days and that the interested party may come to examine the work, provided they notify him in advance: “I will be at my studio on Thursday, and any time that suits you will be fine with me; I only ask that you be so kind as to let me know in advance with a note.” He concludes his letter by extending his regards to his correspondent’s mother and assuring her of his respectful and devoted regards. An interesting letter illustrating the relationship between the sculptor and his clientele upon the completion of a marble commission. Some old creases; in good overall condition.
