LABROUCHE (Pierre). (Bayonne, 1876–1956). French painter and engraver, particularly renowned for his landscapes, architectural views, and depictions of the Basque Country and Spain. Autograph card signed “Pierre Labrouche” to Mr. Barbet, a collector. No place, May 1932. 2 pages, oblong in-12 format, in black ink, on cream-colored cardstock. A few scattered foxing spots. A cordial invitation addressed to a collector, mentioning his etchings and a visit to Saint-Jean-de-Luz. “If you have a little time, you would make me—and Madame Barbet—very happy by coming to visit me. I also have here the etchings you looked at in St. J. de Luz, and you may choose something from among them. ” This card attests to the personal relationships Pierre Labrouche maintained with his collectors and to his work as an engraver. In it, the artist invites his correspondent to come examine several etchings he had previously discovered in Saint-Jean-de-Luz, offering him the chance to choose one. An interesting insight into the distribution of Pierre Labrouche’s engravings among his private clientele. In good overall condition, despite a few foxing spots, mainly on the first page.
