Roman glass jug, 2nd–4th century CE: a fine Roman translucent light-green glass jug. The vessel features an ovoid body that tapers downward to a flat, stable base. The broad, slightly sloping shoulder transitions sharply into a tall cylindrical neck. The neck flares outward into an elegant funnel-shaped mouth, while the rim is turned outward, designed for clean pouring. A single, thick glass handle is attached directly to the shoulder, curving gracefully upward and outward in a wide arc, and secured to the underside of the rim. (H. 20.9 cm) Provenance: Private Dutch collection, acquired between 1970 and 1974 by a collector working for the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stationed in North Africa. [1]
