Michel GUILLERME (born in 1948) "Babel" Sculpture in wood, leather, upholstery nails, and copper grating, on a wooden base One-of-a-kind piece, featuring the artist’s monogrammed plaque 80 x 46 x 25 cm "Viewed from the front, the sculpture evokes a vertical city. The contrast between the deep black of the leather and the warm tones of the waxed wood creates a constant tension. In this work on a pedestal, the wood seems to have retained its memory as a tree. Its scars and cracks tell the story of the years and the storms. Around it, the leather does not simply cover; it wraps around, it winds. As in the legend of Babel, the words have scattered, but their traces remain. Nothing is completely hidden; nothing is completely revealed.” Michel Guillerme
