A LARGE SASANIAN SILVER BOWL, 5TH-7TH CENTURY The bowl worked in repousse with a figural scene at the well featuring a man and woman dressed in loose robes, flanked by two soldiers in armor. The exterior detailed with a row of bearded heads rising from flaming ribbons. Provenance: The collection of The Zelnik István Southeast Asian Gold Museum, acquired in Islamabad in the mid-1990s. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above. Dr. István Zelnik, President of the Hungarian South and Southeast Asian Research Institute, is a former high-ranking Hungarian diplomat who spent several decades in Southeast Asia, building the largest known private collection of Asian art in Europe.
