HONDIUS, after. "Sabaudia ducatus La SAVOIE," circa 1630. Sheet for the black-and-white copperplate engraving, with a small scroll-style title cartouche. Outside the margins: 18.2 x 25.3 cm This map is a reduced version of the famous historical map of the Duchy of Savoy, originally titled “Sabaudia Ducatus, la Savoye,” engraved and published by the renowned Dutch family of cartographers, the Hondius family. There are errors on this map: Annecy is labeled “Amey,” and Chamonix appears to be located on the plain.
