Plüschow, Wilhelm. Collection of 3 nude photographs of the same model. Albumen prints. Vintage. Each bears the photographer’s stamp “Guglielmo Plüschow NAPOLI” (in violet) on the reverse, as well as the collector’s stamp “Theodor Her” and the handwritten numbers “749,” “760,” and “767” (in blue). Circa 1890. Sheet dimensions: 17 x 12 cm each. This series of three nude photographs presents the same young model of Wilhelm (Guglielmo) Plüschow (1852–1930) from the front and back. “Arcadian scenes featuring handsome young men and beautiful girls were Guglielmo Plüschow’s photographic passion.” (Peter Weiermair in the foreword to: Guglielmo Plüschow, Erotische Photographien, Cologne, Taschen, 1993). - The photographs, formerly mounted, show slight pressure marks in the corners and are minimally creased; on one photograph, the collector’s stamp on the reverse shows through slightly onto the front. - Provenance: Likely acquired in 1890 during a trip to Italy by the painter Theodor Her (1838–1892), who also devoted himself to nude photography of male models; in his family’s possession ever since; from the estate of Hans von Hoermann.
