Signed and dated in pencil in the lower right corner beneath the blind stamp "MICHAL MACKU," and stamped on the reverse. 1999. Sheet dimensions: 77.5 x 65 cm. Male nude by Michal Macku created using a technique he developed himself, which he calls “Gellage” (a blend of “collage” and “gelatin”). In this process, the exposed and fixed photographic emulsion is transferred from its original support onto paper. The gelatinous consistency allows the images—Macku usually uses more than one negative for each “Gellage”—to be reshaped, while a fine texture forms on the surface. Thus, every “Gellage” is a unique work. — The edges and corners of the sheet show some creasing and minor flaws.
