Fux, Andreas. Untitled. (The Sweet Skin). Two C-prints on high-gloss synthetic paper. Each signed, inscribed with the location, and dated on the reverse with a black fiber-tip pen. Berlin, July 1998. Image dimensions: 46 x 46 cm each. Sheet dimensions: 60.5 x 50.5 cm each. Two earlier portraits from Andreas Fux’s series “Die süße Haut” (1995–2005), in which he documented Berlin’s tattoo, branding, and piercing scene. He accompanied some of his models for years and repeatedly invited them to mostly nighttime photo shoots in the neutrally lit white space of his studio. The resulting nude photographs captivate with the contrast between the intimacy of the bodies and the clinical sterility of the space. - Andreas Fux (b. 1964), along with photographer and Berghain bouncer Sven Marquardt, is one of the most prominent figures who grew up in Prenzlauer Berg and helped shape the face of Berlin’s subculture before and after the fall of the Berlin Wall. - Very good.
