Siedhoff-Buscher, Alma. Untitled. Linocut on vellum. Signed and dated in the lower right corner. Inscribed "Original Linocut" in the lower left corner. 1921. Image dimensions: 24 x 18 cm. Sheet dimensions: 30.5 x 22 cm. A very early work by the famous Bauhaus artist Alma Siedhoff-Buscher (1899–1944), still in the Expressionist style. She attended the Bauhaus from 1922 to 1927, first in Weimar and later in Dessau, where she studied under Itten, Klee, and Kandinsky, among others. She became best known for her wooden toy “Das Kleine Schiffbauspiel” (The Little Ship-Building Set) from 1923. - The print was likely created during her one-year stay at the training institute of the Berlin Museum of Decorative Arts, which Buscher attended to prepare for the Bauhaus. - With slight glazing along the edges, showing faint crease marks at the edges; otherwise a good example of this rare linocut.
