Schiele, Egon. Collection of seven phototype prints from the portfolio “Egon Schiele. Handzeichnungen.” Each signed and dated in print; mounted on gray cardboard along the upper edge on the reverse. Vienna/Prague/Leipzig, Eduard Strache, 1920. Sheet dimensions: 47 x 31.5 cm each. Mounting boards: 58.5 x 42 cm. Seven (of a total of 15) heliogravures from the reproduction portfolio, published posthumously in a total edition of 510 copies. The photogravures, produced at Max Jaffé’s Kunstanstalt in Vienna, were created two years after the artist’s death. The portfolio, featuring portraits and nude drawings from the years 1910–1918, offers an impressive cross-section of the artist’s creative output. It depicts young women—some lascivious, some wistful—with striking facial features and intertwined nude bodies. This early series of prints attests to Egon Schiele’s exceptional expressive power. — Slightly tanned and minimally creased; the gray backing boards are partially mounted around the edges on the reverse side under passe-partouts.
